EVA8k TCQ Question

We are running an EVA 8000 with command view 6.02. I am guessing that TCQ is on by default within our drives ( mixture of 300GB 10krpm, 73GB 15krpm, and 146GB 15krpm ). I have found no documentation or mention of setting this on the EVA in whitepapers etc..

Can someone confirm if this is on by default? Or is there a way to enable it?

Re: EVA8k TCQ Question

Hi, you're talking about FC disks, which are SCSI disks with a converter to FC protocol. NCQ has been part of the SCSI disks specification for a long time. It was IDE and SATA disks the ones missing it.
Google leads quickly to several pages explaining this, for example:

Re: EVA8k TCQ Question

The EVA is not even designed to allow such low-level tweaks.
I'm curios: why do you care?

Re: EVA8k TCQ Question

We wanted to ensure that the tweak is there. Nothing I could find mentioned the setting, even to say that it is on and you'll never need to touch it. I'm assuming that it is always on.
