Erase EVA
Quick question is there a utility etc that can erase an EVA. I.E. wipe the data on the disks of a retiring EVA. If no I was thinking delete all vdisks, disk groups and
recreate one big disk group, not sure if this will actually overwrite the data.
Comments, suggestions.
Thanks
Keith

Re: Erase EVA
Hnestly, had not thought of it.. nonetheless intialization should delete all the data on the EVA and i believe it should not take too much time as well.

Re: Erase EVA
Doing what you propose WILL NOT wipe all the actual data - only the metadata. Somebody with sophisticated enough tools could potentially extract some or all of your data - not that it would be easy. If you have a hard requirement to wipe data, you should use something like the 'dd' utility in Unix to repeatedly write to all blocks on the disk, or there are third party products out there.
