#armcfg -L 7 -a 50G -g 2
when i tried this command getting the following error message,

Re: Error while creating Redundancy Group 2 in VA 7100

You cannot *create* redundancy groups - this is hardware related.

The VA7100 has only a RG1 - there is no RG2!

This is the reason for the message.

You need to create the LUN in RG1!

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Error while creating Redundancy Group 2 in VA 7100

You can see this if you run

armdsp -a

and read the section "CAPACITY USAGE".

You will notice that all disks are in RG1.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Error while creating Redundancy Group 2 in VA 7100

I'm sure I posted a link to the user manual to one of your other related threads.

The main difference between a VA7100, VA7110, VA7400 and VA7410 are the controllers.

The controller for the VA71xx will put all disks in only 1 RG.

To quote the manual:

"The VA 7100 and VA 7110 each have one redundancy group (RG1). See
Figure 13 and Figure 14. All the disks in the array belong to RG1. LUNs
created from RG1 are available through both controllers (in a dual controller
configuration)."

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
