Expanded Array does not add additional space
Proliant DL380 G5 with smart array p400. This controller had a RAID-5 containing 3 disk of 146 GB so we had an effective capacity of ca 273GB. Recently we added 3 more disk of 146 GB, we expanded the array which completed succesfully, however the extra capacity is not added to logical drive. When you view the raid set you'll see an raid-5 containing 6 disks of 146 GB, but this array has a capacity of 273 GB. Does anyone have an idea what happended here?

Re: Expanded Array does not add additional space
It's a two step process:
1) Expand array adding disks. You'll end up with the same logical unit and a empty space
2) Extend the logical unit using that space
The OS will now see a bigger disk. Extending the partitions is a OS task, cannot be done in the SmartArray, since the controller does not know what OS is running on the server.

Re: Expanded Array does not add additional space
Thank you for your responce.
True, but there is no empty space to add in my OS. The logical drive is 273GB, the logical drive is the one configured in the raid-controller, right?

Re: Expanded Array does not add additional space
6 x 146 GB in RAID 5 gives you 679 GB of space. Since the logical unit is still 273 GB, you are missing the step of extending the logical drive.
