Extend Logical Drive with Smart Array 5i and Linux?
Hello!
We have here an Smart Array 5i Controller with 4 HD, one Array, one Logical drive Raid5.
We are running in capacity problems , so we extend the array with 2 harddisks. Now we have one array, one logical disk and free space on the array.
Smart Array 5i in Slot 0
array A (Parallel SCSI, Unused Space: 350030 MB)
array A logicaldrive 1 (273.5 GB, RAID 5, OK)
No we have to expand the LD i think. OS is Linux Debian 3.1. Is it dangerous to do that? Will Linux recognize the modified drive without booting?

Probably not, and even after a reboot, you won't be able to use the space.
See the attached file for some testings I have done in the past.
