I know this is unusual and rather frugal, but I want to install two disk modules on an FC60 with 2 enclosures (SC10) without binding them to a LUN together. Currently, there are 8 in each enclosure giving a total of 8 RAID 1 LUNS. However, I do not want a 9th RAID 1 LUN but instead just want the two disks to be used independently for uses not requiring the high availabitlity of a mirror. Is this possible? Can't find anything in the FC60 or SC10 manuals about it.
More specifically, I want one as it's own VG and another as a global hot spare.

Solution
Yes, when you create LUN on FC60 you're able to choose RAID levels 0, 1, 0/1, 3 (for windows only) and 5. RAID 0 is what you need - simple sriping, and you'll have one disk in the stripe

Re: FC60 Disk Modules Install
Greg, thanks, u2.
I would add please check that you have latest FC60 firmware (HP11 for hpux) and full data backup. Just to be sure if you'll do anything wrong information is saved.
If firmware is old please call HP
Good luck!
