FC60

Dear Friends,
I am installing a new FC60 and is connected to an HP 9000 N-class machine. After installing the server, executing the sam it is showing me only one controller ( controller A) of FC60 and the status of the second ( controller B ) as CRITICAL.

Thanks in advance.

Re: FC60

Hi,

try the following (with your devfile, ioscan -fnkClan ):
HP-UX11# fcmsutil /dev/fcms6

Local N_Port_ID is = 0x000001
N_Port Node World Wide Name = 0x1000001083B9A51E
N_Port Port World Wide Name = 0x1000001083B9A51E
Topology = IN_LOOP
Speed = 1062500000 (bps)
HPA of card = 0xF9EFF000
EIM of card = 0xFFFFFFFF
Driver state = READY
Number of EDB's in use = 0
Number of OIB's in use = 0
Number of Active Outbound Exchanges = 1
Number of Active Login Sessions = 3

If the driver state is not Ready, reconnect the fibercable.
Check the kernelvariable num_tachyon_adapters that it match the number of your fc- cards...

Re: FC60

The B controler could be in Passive mode.

Try: ammgr -c AA

Where ARRAY ID is the serial or allias returned when you do: amdsp -i

This will put both controlers in active mode.

Plan for the future and tomorrow will take care of itself.

Re: FC60

First of all make sure you powered up the system correctly. Power On first the SC10s connected to the FC60 controller unit. Wait some 30 seconds so that the disks up and running. Power-Up the FC 60 controller unit and gave that unit also 30 seconds time to come up. After that power-up the system and boot the operating system. If you power-up all parts at the same time you get problem like you have.
Hope this helps, Udo

Re: FC60

Dear Friends,
We have found that the 2nd controller was defective ? We are getting a replacement.
Also I would like to know :
What is the command to eanble the read and
write cache of the second controller of the FC60 ?

Re: FC60

there is no command to enable read or write cache. the cache will be disabled, if one controller or the bbu failed, also after a powercycle of FC60, if the bbu is still charging.
if you have done the correct powerup procedure and see both controllers and all luns in ioscan and optimal in mstm->tools->information, but read and write cache are still disabled, you should contact your local response center. if there are no datas on fc60, the response center can set the fc60 to factory default after checking the fit of cables and the setting of dip switches and full bus or split bus.

Re: FC60

an other idea is to remove all old devicefiles and install them new (rmsf -H and insf -e) or delete all old devicefiles and reboot host
