Firmware/Driver upgrade to support >8 luns on HDS 9960 array
Our local HDS guy mentioned that HP is releasing a HP/Ux 11 patch or driver upgrade to eliminate the 8 LUN limitation when connected to HDS 9900s.
Has anyone heard about this or confirm this information.
Our plan to buy a couple of N-class servers is on hold since our storage is Hitachi only and i hate to create huge luns just to fit disk requirement within 8 luns.

Re: Firmware/Driver upgrade to support >8 luns on HDS 9960 array
Ven,
We have inquired with HP about this issue and an EMC Symmetrix. We were told by HP that the LUN field in the OS is a 3 bit number, so you can only have 8 Luns per target. However, if you are running 11i (maybe even 11.0) with certain patches AND on a superdome, then you can have 16.
When I talked with HP about this a couple of months back, the backline engineer didn't see this changing soon.

What I've been told is that there is a firmware upgrade to the HDS box to allow > 8 LUNs. I understand that it is now available.
Good luck.
Good luck.
