(The link says '7110', but the content is for both, the VA7110 and the VA7410).

Re: HDD for VA7410
How many enclosures you have?
If it is main only, then 15 disks are possible in total.
If you have 10 already, you can add 5 more, preferably same capacity and speed.
If you mix the capacity then you may not be utilizing the larger capacity, especially if you are adding only one.

Re: HDD for VA7410
I have one enclosure, and it is main only.
I have 10 HDD (73GB)already.
The questions are:
Can I put in storage and use only one 146GB HDD?
Can I put in storage and use only one 73GB HDD?
If I can't put and use only one 146GB HDD what is the minimum number of HDD which I must put in storage?
Regards,
Alin

Re: HDD for VA7410
Can. BUT VA7410 has 2 RG (redundancy group) You shold consider which slot you insert disk to
1. run this command
#armdsp your_VA_ALIAS
#ioscan -fnC disk
#vgdisplay vgXX
vgXX is vg you want to extend lv.

Re: HDD for VA7410
If I run the commands you say me, I add a new HDD and grow-up the space of storage?
What is your opinion about this:
I have one enclosure, and it is main only.
I have 10 HDD (73GB)already.
The questions are:
Can I put in storage and use only one 146GB HDD?
Can I put in storage and use only one 73GB HDD?
If I can't put and use only one 146GB HDD what is the minimum number of HDD which I must put in storage?
Thanks many more again

Re: HDD for VA7410
#armdsp -a your_VA_name
then check number of RG (FOR EXAMPLE)
CAPACITY USAGE
Total Disk Enclosures:________________2
Redundancy Group:_____________________1
Total Disks:________________________11
Total Physical Size:________________367.164 GB
Allocated to Regular LUNs:__________245.097 GB
Allocated as Business Copies:_______0 bytes
Used as Active Hot Spare:___________33.375 GB
Used for Redundancy:________________87.832 GB
Unallocated (Available for LUNs):___880 MB
Redundancy Group:_____________________2
Total Disks:________________________9
Total Physical Size:________________300.407 GB
Allocated to Regular LUNs:__________190 GB
Allocated as Business Copies:_______0 bytes
Used as Active Hot Spare:___________33.375 GB
Used for Redundancy:________________76.93 GB
Unallocated (Available for LUNs):___104 MB
>> IT MEAN VA7400 HAS TWO RG(Redundancy Group)
YOUR QUESTION
Can I put in storage and use only one 146GB HDD?
>>CAN. VA7410 SUPPORT FO 146gb DISK. THIS DISK WILL BE HOT SPARE DISK (SEE ATTACHED FILE FOR CONFIG)
Can I put in storage and use only one 73GB HDD?
>> OFFCOURSE
If I can't put and use only one 146GB HDD what is the minimum number of HDD which I must put in storage?
>> ONLY NEED CONSIDER SLOT TO INSERT TO (SHOULD KEEP "Unallocated Available for LUNs" IS BIGGER THAN ONE DISK)
