HP D2700 / D2600 rails won't mount in a normal round-hole rack

We've studied this at length, but just can't figure out how to mount the rails that come with the D2600 / D2700 disk arrays in a normal round-hole rack.  Everything else mounts fine in our normal racks, including DL360/DL380/DL580 systems, but not the disk arrays.

The HP StorageWorks D2600 / D2700 Disk Enclosure User guide on page 31 makes limited mention of round-hole racks, saying only to use "smaller shoulder screws and pegs".  The index on pages 77 and 78 refers to modifying rails for round hole racks on page 31, but no such instructions are there.

The problem is that the brackets on the ends of the HP rails have holes that are too small for normal threaded hole rack screws, and we'd really rather not have to take them to a machine shop to have them reamed out.

http://www.beak.org/hp_array_rails.m4v  is a video clip demonstrating the problem.

Any advice would be much appreciated, either for getting the stock HP rails to work or for replacement rails.

Attaching the video here directly failed because of the filename extension.

The screws should pass through the HP rail flanges/holes and then crew into the rack.  (for a threaded hole rack)  The HP rail flanges/holes are only threaded for use with HP pins.  (used in square hole racks)

Think you are fighting a "thread" issue.  You must have a 10-24 threeaded rack. https://www.cyberpowersystems.com/faqs/what-is-the-difference-between-10-32-12-24-and-m6-rack-screws/

If so, the screws for your rack are to big to do what you want.

This thread was six years ago, so it's all very much past tense.

We were not exactly in a position to replace existing racks with goofy HP racks just to mount a couple of oddball peices of hardware.  "to do what you want" makes it sound like this was something unusual; simply mounting a peice of equipment in a rack that had never had any problem with any other type of gear was hardly so.

We had to ream out the HP rails to get them to work with normal racks.
