HP RAID 4Si

Hi all,

I realise that the HP RAID 4Si raid card is NOT supported on any workstation, but does that mean it doesn't work or does it just mean it is not supported?

Thanks in advance

Re: HP RAID 4Si

Hi Alex,

We come across this all the time; HP will only test the most popular configs and those that fit in with their product lines and marketing strategy - fair play, it'd be cost and time prohibitive to do anything else.

In theory it is merely a SCSI card with 4 channels and a RAID controller to manage them. There is no obvious reason why it would not work.

The only real gotcha is you need to ensure that you have a full-length independent I/O slot to put the card in. I assume you're using 11.x, so you then shouldn't have a problem.

Though I would NOT risk trying this on a business critical system.

Re: HP RAID 4Si

Hello Alex,

I stopped by HP internal web sites where HP RAID 4Si information is.
This is what I found out.
"This product is currently not supported on workstations."

This could mean that you'll not get RAID 4Si driver on HP workstation application CDs.
By default, RAID 4Si driver is not shipped with HP RAID 4Si controller and doesn't belong to HP-UX 11.X.

Hope this helps,
