HSV 200 Migration Blocked
Hi,
A customer has got an old HSV200.
Recently he got 2 failed disks (1TB FATA), first one and then the second, in the same Disk Group. It managed to finish first leveling before second failure and second failure did not cause too much trouble (luns remained accesible). Second leveling also finished OK. The disk group had no protection level, and some available capacity.
He bought 2 new disks, to replace the failed disks, but while the new disks were arriving, two more 1TB FATA disks appeared with a warning (predictive failure) and started migrating data off the disks.
Failure protection was already none, and available capacity went down to 0.
Finally 4 new disks arrived (he also bought 2 new disks to replace those who had a predictive failure warning).
He's added and grouped the 4 disks (one after the other, one each day), and it seemed that it could recover everything to a good status, available capacity started growing, leveling percentage also grew, and also did data migration percentage from the 2 warning disks.
But now it seems it has stopped, available capacity went down back to 0, leveling is stucked at 38% at the disk group level, data migration is stucked on each warning disk and it says Migration Blocked.
What can he do? Is there a way to troubleshoot this?
Thanks

Re: HSV 200 Migration Blocked
In general you may get in trouble with no capacity left and no protection level set. There is just no space to recover from a disk failure then. When grouping disks, then group as much as possible at the same time, other wise you may see leveling always restarting wehen grouping a new disk, this may take such a lot of time. Maybe you can attach some meaningful screenshots?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HSV 200 Migration Blocked
Right now I cannot take screenshots, but I have some details.
Command View shows this disk group has 13 disks (1TB FATA), with a total capacity 12900.15 GB.
Transition state is "Leveling: 38% complete".
Available capacity is 0GB for all the vraid levels (Vraid0, Vraid1, Vraid5).
Failure protection requested level is single, but actual level is none.
Total occupancy is 6926.75 GB.
11 disks are OK, and two disks have a warning.
The first warning disk shows:
Operational state: operation in progress
Data state: Migration blocked
Data progress: 41% progress
Failure prediction: yes
Media accesible: yes
Requested usage: Ungrouped
Actual: Grouped
Second warning disk shows everything similar, except that Data progress is 39%.
There are five luns created on this disk group, all on Vraid5, with a total of 6398GB.
Available capacity (0GB) does not match the occupancy (6926.75 GB) and total capacity (12900.15 GB).
Also, occupancy (6926.75 GB) does not match the luns total (6398GB Vraid5).

Re: HSV 200 Migration Blocked
I would restart the controllers one at a time. See if this helps. What fw is running?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
