HSZ70 cluster

Hello,

We have a HSZ70 cluster with TRU64 systems. Its a 2 node cluster.
Today we detected an alarm beeping. Also found that one of the disks from the array is showing amber light.

That should not be a problem , becauze we have 2 disks in SPARESET.

But the problem is when we try to connect to HSZ70 from the system command prompt, instead of going to
HSZ70 prompt it is going to FMU prompt?

root@CLUSTER1> /usr/lbin/hsxterm5 -b 0 -t 1 -l 5

HSXterm, Host Port CLI Terminal Emulator - D'Unix Ver 1.20

FMU> ?

Your options are:
DESCRIBE
EXIT
SET
SHOW
FMU> exit

So what to do in this case?

Thanx,
Admin

Re: HSZ70 cluster

Hi,
Just do exit, you will then go back to your normal hsz prompt - whatever you have it set to? If you have the last fail and or istance codes you could enter those and get a decode. If it is a faied disk then the repair action code will be 40 or 42 which basically tells you to replace the failed drive which you know already!
No need to use FMU if you are sure you have a disk problem.
You now need to remove and replace the failed drive and delete the failed drive from the failedset. Then add the new drive into the spareset.

Re: HSZ70 cluster

Hi,

I am afraid but thats not the solution.
Yes there was a disk failure and we did a replcement already. But the problem is , using hsxterm we used to get the HSZ70 prompt till now.
But now when we do hsxterm , it DIRECTLY goes to FMU prompt and if we give exit here then it comes out on the normal command prompt.

Thats the strangest part. Any guesses what could be the problem?
Or is there any aleternate way to reconfigure scp device or so??

Re: HSZ70 cluster

Hi,
I never use HSZterm so no help there.
Just plug a cable directly in the front of the ctrl - works fine for me everytime.

Re: HSZ70 cluster

Yes agree. But we suspect if this is becauze of some internal problem.
We use hsxterm5 command to get HSZ70.

Re: HSZ70 cluster

And moreover , we could connect to HSZ70 mode by connecting a console cable. But then if we do

HSZ70> run fmu

it says fmu is already running ....

So?

Re: HSZ70 cluster

Hi,
Assuming that you can - restart the ctrl concerned.

Re: HSZ70 cluster

Hi,

You mean , restart the controller itself ??
Both the controllers or what?
Please clarify.

Re: HSZ70 cluster

Hi,
Assuming that you are not going to interrupt the users - which SHOULD not be a problem if you reboot one ctrl - then the ctrl that you are having the problem with!
However you may wish to do this at a quite period or consult your local maintenace supplier before doing this.
