Have RAID 0 array. Want RAID 1 array.

I have a ProLiant ML350 server with a Smart Array E200i.

SAS Array B contains:
Logical Drive 2 (279.4 GB, RAID 0)

Additionally I have added a matching HDD that is recognized in ACU as:
300 GB 2-Port SAS Unassigned Drive at Port 1I : Box 1 : Bay 4

What are the steps to combine the existing Logical Drive 2 with the Unassigned Drive to make Logical Drive 2 a RAID 1?

Re: Have RAID 0 array. Want RAID 1 array.

Hi Christopher,

You have to first expand the logical drive 2 to span across the HDD that you have added. Once this is complete you can migrate the RAID 0 volume to RAID 1.
i.e
step 1: expand logical drive 2
step 2: Migrate logical drive 2 from RAID 0 to RAID 1.

You can look for the exact commands to do this in the tool you use to manage and configure the array.

The Smart Array E200 needs BBWC upgrade to be able to perform Online RAID Level Migration.

Re: Have RAID 0 array. Want RAID 1 array.

Clarete Riana was correct. The two steps worked. Although they took a long time to complete (each step taking about 15 hours) I was able to upgrade from RAID 0 to RAID 1 without any server downtime.

It was not necessary to upgrade the controller with a battery for this to work.

Thank you!
