Re: Help need documentation!

MA500? Surely you mean MSA500:

Re: Help need documentation!

I am sure about it.

Compa q MA 500 StorageWorks SAN Array 14 Slot 248974-001

Maybe HP renamed it as MSA500?

Re: Help need documentation!

I think those products were Compaq branded and HP renamed them maybe with some h/w changes.

If you know there are EMA series storage arrays.

Re: Help need documentation!

The MA 500 and the MSA 500 are the same products. I have attached the Picture of a MA 500. This is same as MSA 500.

Hence the documentation on MSA 500 would help you getting information on this.

A lot of name changes have happened but the Array and the technology remains the same.

There are other old Compaq products as well EMA, VA, MA and RA's. Most of them still exist in the books of HP, however the MA 500 for some reason is now called MSA 500.

Hope this helps..

Sunny

Re: Help need documentation!

Looks like HP just changed the name to MSA for this product.

Thanks to all.

Re: Help need documentation!

I've been following the Digital/Compaq/HP storage products for a long time and I am 100% sure that there never was a product called "MA500" that was renamed to "MSA500".

There were products called MA6000/MA6000/EMAxxxx, but those are based on the original Digital Storageworks development.

The MSA1000/MSA1500 use an MSA30 (renamed from M4400) disk drive enclosure which is based on the original M43xx / M42xx disk drive enclosures for the MA/EMA technology.

And the MSA1000 used to be called the "Modular SAN Array", but was then renamed to "Modular Smart Array" - I do have a customer whose MSA1000 has two controllers with different controller module labels...
