Host mode on Hitachi 9900 for N class servers.

Hi all!

we are planning to connect a N - Class box to our SAN which has Sun boxes connected to Hitachi frames via Brocade/JNI.

What is the host mode to be chosen on hitachi to allocate disks for the HP servers. I remember someone mentioning that HP requires Mode 08.
thanks

Hello Ven,

mode 08 is the right one (supposing the same ucode behaviour for 9900 and XP512). If you are still in doubts, you need to contact Hitachi or Comparex for 100% answer, they are not sharing those information with HP.

Best regards,

Re: Host mode on Hitachi 9900 for N class servers.

It's mode 08 alright.

To mix HPUX and Sun you'll have to put the HPUX into it's own Brocade hard zone. This is for two reasons - if you run QuickLoop mode for HPUX, it's incompatable with the Suns, or if you run Fabric mode, HDS' Zone Allocation Manager doesn't work in mode 08 (HP mode).
No matter where you go, there you are.
