How to configure MSA30 as shared storage betweeb to Proliant ML350?

Hi all,
I have two servers Proliant ML350 running Windows 2003 and one HP StorageWorks MSA30. I want to connect the external storage as a shared storage, accessible by both servers.
I see that this storage does not support clustering under Windows.
Is there any other possibility to configure it as a shared external storage?

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

the MI - multi initiator - connection module for the msa30 is only supported for HP-UX, no other OS.

So there is no way to share this between proliant servers. You need a fiber channel device to do this.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

The MSA30 is just the new name for the Storageworks 4214/4314 shelf as it now supports U320 speeds.

You can have it in split-bus mode with 7 drives available to each server but the drives or Arrays created on each node will not be shared as with clustering. The Ultra320 2 Node dual bus SCSI controller allows this.

This just lets the shelf hold 14 drives (7 drives to each connecting node). The problem with this is when the shelf needs to be powered off as it will affect both nodes.

Regards,

Brian
