Information on "Mirror Group" terminology used is ACU for a Storageworks D2600

Hey everone trying to find out what HP means by Mirror Group in regard to the ACU program in displaying the information in the logical view of a Raid 10 drive set.

Also how can i identify the drives in the mirror set. I have 24 2TB drives set up in a raid 10 confugration and in the logigal view it show 2 "Mirror Groups". Group1 and Group 2  Group 1 has 12 and Goup 2 has 12. I assuming that the drives in Mirror Group 1, Box1, Bay 1/Bay 2 , Box1 ,Bay3/Bay4 etc. are a mirrored sets. Am I correct?

Hey,

have you looked in the ADU? Maybe it's visible in there.

Since nobody ever answered that question ...

hpacucli controller slot=0 ld all show detail

[ ... ]

         Mirror Group 0:
            physicaldrive 1I:1:3 (port 1I:box 1:bay 3, SAS, 146 GB, OK)
            physicaldrive 1I:1:4 (port 1I:box 1:bay 4, SAS, 146 GB, OK)
            physicaldrive 2I:1:5 (port 2I:box 1:bay 5, SAS, 146 GB, OK)
         Mirror Group 1:
            physicaldrive 2I:1:6 (port 2I:box 1:bay 6, SAS, 146 GB, OK)
            physicaldrive 2I:1:7 (port 2I:box 1:bay 7, SAS, 146 GB, OK)
            physicaldrive 2I:1:8 (port 2I:box 1:bay 8, SAS, 146 GB, OK)

 in the ADU it says

Position Device Association Status
-------- ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- -------------
2 Physical Drive (146 GB SAS) 1I:1:3 Physical Drive (146 GB SAS) 2I:1:6 Informational
3 Physical Drive (146 GB SAS) 1I:1:4 Physical Drive (146 GB SAS) 2I:1:7 Informational
4 Physical Drive (146 GB SAS) 2I:1:5 Physical Drive (146 GB SAS) 2I:1:8 Informational
5 Physical Drive (146 GB SAS) 2I:1:6 Physical Drive (146 GB SAS) 1I:1:3 Informational
6 Physical Drive (146 GB SAS) 2I:1:7 Physical Drive (146 GB SAS) 1I:1:4 Informational
7 Physical Drive (146 GB SAS) 2I:1:8 Physical Drive (146 GB SAS) 2I:1:5 Informational

pulling the drives in bays 6,7 and 8 at the same time works, the array starts rebuilding as soon as the drives are reinserted.

In short: RAID10 is RAID1 over 2 RAID0 Mirror-Groups.

so hp's raid1+0 is raid0+1 in real. Both of them have the same performance and capacity. But how about redundancy level? I can say for 4 disks it is the same. But if we have 6 or more disks, the chance to have raid01 (6 hdd) failed is 1/2*1/2 = 1/4 (if one group fails and other group fails). For raid10 we have 1/3*1/2= 1/9 (if one group fails and one of other group fails). Please confirm my calculation and give an answer, why HP uses raid01 and calls it raid1+0 instead of using real raid1+0?
