Journal file usage monitoring (HP-XP-CA)

Hello,

I am exploring the options to monitor the Journal file usage in a XP12000 Continuous Access (Journal) replication. Has anyone tried writing any scripts using RM or PA?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Journal file usage monitoring (HP-XP-CA)

No, but shouldn't be difficult to acheive using RM. There are examples in the RM manual such as this:

# pairdisplay -g VG01 -v jnl
JID MU CTG JNLS AP U(%) Q-Marker Q-CNT D-SZ(BLK) Seq# Nnm LDEV#
001 0 2 PJNN 4 21 43216fde 30 512345 62500 2 265
002 0 2 SJNN 4 95 3459fd43 52000 512345 62538 3 270

the U(%) field shows the journal usage.

Re: Journal file usage monitoring (HP-XP-CA)

Thanks Duncan,

I am keen on something which is "automated" and can send the alerts, also which has less dependencies, like writing something with pairdisplay will have dependencies on Master and Remote HORCM instances.

I know it sounds like I am looking for a readymade solution, but not really. All I am asking is the best practices followed by the people in similar need.

Well, like I said, I've never done it myself...

Only other option I can think of is that if you use Command View XP Advanced Edition, you consider getting the XP Replication Monitor Software that monitors this amongst other replication configurations:

Re: Journal file usage monitoring (HP-XP-CA)

Thanks Aashiqui,

I am not looking for BC or CA automation, it's to monitor CA-Journal's Journal Pool utilization (hope you are familiar with CA-Journal).
