Knowing Controllers Version and some others info

Is there any way to know the model of my EVA controllers via software or some command?

Re: Knowing Controllers Version and some others info

Look in Command View

Hardware - Rack 1 - Controller enclosure

Select one controller and you'll see what model it is and what firmware version it has.

Re: Knowing Controllers Version and some others info

Ok, I get this information from Controllers as you suggested before:

Controller A & B - HSV200
Software Version A & B - CR0EB0XC3P-6100

So I think my EVA is 6100 and not a 6400. What I need, then, to upgrade to 8100 or 84400?

Cheers and thanks in advance

Re: Knowing Controllers Version and some others info

6100 is the firmware version. Latest for that family of EVAs is 6220.

The controller is an HSV200 which is used on EVA4000 and EVA6000. If it has two loop-switches it's an EVA6000 and can have up to 8 disk enclosures (112 disks). If it does not have loop-switches, it's an EVA4000 and can have up to 4 disk enclosures (56 disks).

An EVA8000 can have up to 18 enclosures (and 240 disks)

You can upgrade to an EVA8000 / EVA8100 by:

- Purchasing two new HSV210 controllers
- Purchasing additional loop switches
- Replacing the I/O modules in the enclosures if upgrading to EVA8100.

Re: Knowing Controllers Version and some others info

I think there are more possible models:
> HSV200

EVA4000/4100 (1..4 disk enclosures) or EVA6000/6100 (1..8 disk enclosures + loop switches).

As far as I can tell, one must decode the controller serial numbers to find out if the system uses HSV200 (2Gig) or HSV200-A (4Gig) or HSV200-B (4Gig / 4100/6100) controller modules.

Re: Knowing Controllers Version and some others info

The EVA now achieve 177 TB and 6 Enclosures (5 for Disks and 1 for Controllers) so thinking in Total Storage 4000 can't support this storage wich may me think that my EVA is a 6000 or greater.

What loop-switches means? A equipment installed on Rack? A software? Something else? (Sorry about this stupid questions but I'm learning now with yours help ;) )

So I need to upgrade every of this options:
- Purchasing two new HSV210 controllers
- Purchasing additional loop switches
- Replacing the I/O modules in the enclosures if upgrading to EVA8100.

Or just one of them or two?
Thanks again

Re: Knowing Controllers Version and some others info

EVA loop switches a cabled between the HSV controllers and the disk drive enclosures. On the EVA-6000/6100 they usually mounted directly above the controllers and occupy 1U rack height.

Re: Knowing Controllers Version and some others info

Hi
HSV200 = NOT RoHS compliant
HSV200-A = RoHS compliant
This can be checked from the OCP via a menu option.
Not exactly a guarantee but if it has Model 352 switches then it is a HSV200 or 200-A.
If it has 852 switches then it could be an A spec but B spec MUST have them.

Re: Knowing Controllers Version and some others info

Hi I'm completely lost because you talk here about a lot of things that I don't know :( (sorry for my ignorance in this topics but I'm newbie and try to learn with yours help).

Ok, the EVA now is 2C6D wich make me think it's a 6100. So if I want to add two more enclosures to get 2C8D or maybe better get 2C12D what I'm need to do? Purchasing six new HSV210 controllers? Purchasing additional loop switches? Replacing the I/O modules in the enclosures if upgrading to EVA8100? All of them?

Cheers

Re: Knowing Controllers Version and some others info

Your EVA has firmware 6.100, HSV200 controllers and 6 enclosures.

It's an EVA6000. The 4100/6100/8100 came with firmare 6.110 minimum.

You can add two more disk enclosures.

If you want more, you need two loop-switches more and replace the controllers by HSV210 (so it becames a EVA8000).

Be aware that EVA4100/6100/8100 use controllers and enclosures that are not compatible with older EVAs. You need to have all controllers, switches, I/O modules and EMUs from the same generation, do not mix old and new parts.
