the problem is the time taken for leveling is almost 3 days now...and still its not completed yet...is it a concern ???

Bcoz we daily take snapclones of databse mounpoints...

I would also like to know the diffrence between mirrorclone and snapclone...

Re: Leveling time taken too long

Since this is running in background with low priority there is no reason to worry about ...

Hope this helps!

Re: Leveling time taken too long

Hi Torsten ,
But one of our engineer has told us that if the levelling is not complete ..and if any hdd fails then there would be data loss...so i was just concerned....about it...

Re: Leveling time taken too long

I can't see how that is possible since the process of leveling is just the movement of data from one hdd to another hdd.

The data is protected my the virtualization layer on the EVA at that point so it should act just the same is if it wasn't leveling and you lost a disk.

Snapclone creates a totally independant copy of the original virtual disk.

Mirrorclone creates a mirrored clone of the original disk that stays in sync until you break it. (I might be slightly off on this one having never actually made one or needed to make one.)

Re: Leveling time taken too long

Hi Steve,
I have a question about leveling. Even in my case it's been more than 3 days and leveling has completed just 68% and there is an urgent request for space allocation to few ESX servers. Can allocation be done while the leveling is still in progress or strictly not allowed. Can you explain me the pros and cons. Thanks.
