MA 8000 DISKS PROBLEM
WE HAVE AN MA8000 WITH 2 HSG80 CONTROLLERS WITH ACS 8.5. THE STSTEM HAS 12 SCSI-3 160 36GB DISKS SPREAD IN DIFFERENT SCSI BUSSES AND STORAGE BOXES. RECENTLY WE TRIED TO ADD 9 NEW DISKS (ULTRA 320) 5 OF THEM WHERE CORRECTLY INSTALLED, BUT FOUR OF THEM COULD NOT LIGHT THE "ONLINE" LED. WE CHANGED THE DISKS BUT... NOTHING. ON THE SAME BUS AND ON THE SAME STORAGEBOX A LOT OF PREVIOUS INSTALLED DISKS ARE WORKING CORRECTRLY !!! WHAT COULD BE THE REASON FOR THIS STRANGE PROBLEM ???

Re: MA 8000 DISKS PROBLEM
Uwe is correct, compaq/hp delivered a mandatory upgrade to HSG80s and the ACS.
The minimum supported version now I believe is V86F-13(best to contact HP for a flashcard). and this should allow you to use your new disks.
Hope this helps
regards
Matt
