Re: MPIO for RHEL 5 ... for storage XP1024.
I think you have to use native HBA features to do this on linux - preffered HBA is qlogic. We have similar setup with EVA, it works.

Re: MPIO for RHEL 5 ... for storage XP1024.
system has 2 QLA2460 FC HBAs, running RHEL5 and connected to XP1024 but problem is this that MPIO software is only available for XP10000, XP12000, XP20000, XP24000
:(
MPIO is not available for XP1024 for RHEL5.
any idea about Hitachi Dynamic Link Manager (HDLM) Software ???
what about native driver? provides fail-over? multipath management?
thanks.

Re: MPIO for RHEL 5 ... for storage XP1024.
I have experencie with EVA's, I can ask my coleagues about XP's (they have 12000's and 24000's).
Generally - we use qlogic driver and failover/failback work great, no performance issues. There is no more layers.
On other system - linux RH + Rac cluster, we have additional device mapper + ocfs, there are som problem if EVA's controlers are rebooting.
XP1024 looks to be quite older array. Is it even supported with RH5? Have you check HP Spock matrix?

SolutionLinux Device Mapper is fully supported with the XP1024.
The supported versions are
Device-Mapper Multipath kit v4.0.0 and v4.2.0
Do you know SPOCK?
It is the official HP storage compatibility database.
Go here http://www.hp.com/storage/spock
You need to register once.
On the home page go to SAN Compatibility select > View by Array/OS
In the matrix select RedHat + XP1024
Now choose your distribution and server model
At the very bottom you will find the link that will create a support PDF for you like
View the complete XP128/1024 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 x64 configuration
Cheers
