On our MSA 1000, we have a unit which I expanded to include two new disks; unfortunately, I immediately realized I shouldn't have added those 2 disks to that particular unit. The unit now has 4 disks (2 of which haven't been used). Is there a way of non-destructively remove those 2 unused disks from the unit?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers,
Mark

SolutionAs per provided information,The Array is already expanded, now the hdd are part of the array as they were installed since installation. So there is no way to remove the hdd without effecting the Array.
But if U r using 2+2 disks it seems that u are having either Raid 0 or Raid 1+0(includes RAID 1) installed.
U can remove the hdd in RAID 1+0 after checking their disk set but that's not a solution
So it would be better if u leave as it is untill u want to recreate the Array.

Thanks for your answer. I guess I'll have to deal with my mistake the hard way.

The following document is worth consideration if you have a Smart Start CD. Personnally i think this is a risky operation and depending on how critical your data is, will determine whether you want to try it. (2 words - Back Up)
