MSA1000 fw upgrade

Hi,

We have one customer with one MSA1000 with 4.48 code and have 1 windows 2003, 2 x Linux servers and 1 x ESX server attached to it.
We have some problems with failover and other unstable scenario's. I will zone th san switches and fw upgrade them + correcting host connection parameters in the ACU.
I also wonders if I should upgrade the code on the MSA to active / active. Anyone done that and having a stable system afterwords?

Re: MSA1000 fw upgrade

Thanks a lot. Do I need active / active fw to have a supported multi os connect on the MSA1000, or is this supported also with active / passive fw? (we have win2003, esx and linux)

Re: MSA1000 fw upgrade

It's pretty clear here:

http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00866680/c00866680.pdf

Linux, Windows an VmWare support Active/Passive and Active/Active MSA.

Re: MSA1000 fw upgrade

So it means that I can use 4.48 code and have esx,wi2003 and linux connected to the msa1000 at the same time?
If so, I do not need to bother with upgrades.

Re: MSA1000 fw upgrade

Yes, but update it to 5.20, it has a long list of enhancements and fixes.

Re: MSA1000 fw upgrade

Thanks
So it's a question of checking os drivers, fw etc on hba's, switches, multipath. Upgrade if necessary and then do the fw upgrade on the MSA1000.
