MSA1500 cs false fan error in SIM

The customer has an msa1500 in a DL385 G1 cluster. The customer reboots the cluster once a month for updates. When he does the reboot SIM reports on both nodes that the msa1500 has a fan failure and no power supplies. After about 5-10 min. the errors clear in SIM. There are no error conditions on the MSA. The MSA is running 5.10 FW. The cluster is WIN 2003 SP1.

Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks,

Jay

Michael,

Can you supply a >show tech_support from the MSA cli.

What servers model and are you using dual ported HBA or two singles.

Attached is the CLI output. We have dual fibre link to a DL580 G4 with controllers in active/passive mode.

Re: MSA1500 cs false fan error in SIM

Hey Michael,

HBA slots have precedence when the OS boots up. Power down everything, swap the FC cables at the server.

If you zoned your switches, you will have to make changes.

What you want is the HBA1 to switch1 to MSA C1(right).

Please set the ACL(aka SSP), set the host profile to the appropriate OS.

Please follow up with me.

This seems to have done the trick fingers crossed.

Thanks for your help.
