MSA2000 data lost on power failure, is it possible??

hi;
our SQL servers connect to MSA 2000fc in cluster.And all data is on the MSA2000fc.

there is no battery protected feature on msa2000fc controller.therefore, if the power failue occurs, then our data in cache will be lost???

msa2000fc, how to protect data on power failure??

thanks.

On power failure the data remains in the cache, MSA2000 has super charge capacitors in place of cache.

Hi, could be either a long-time power failure (as MSA2000 is equipped with capacitors, not a real battery cache) OR a software configuration error.

to check this:
Go into the disk manager (if u're using windows), right-click on the disk(s) and select properties.

in the Criteria tab have you enabled the cache settings?
read the explanation there.

hope this helps.

The capacitors are used to give enough time to transfer the data from volatile memory to flash memory, not to keep the volatile memory contents.

Yes, i meant: if an MSA2000 error occurred that didn't write the data from the cache and you had a long power failure

As a matter of fact i told you should check the Win Cache settings, because is the other setting tha can make data losses.

Whenever that was set correctly (windows cache disabled) I think you have to call HP for part substitution(or whatever they say), because your MSA is behaving bad.
