MSA30 DB as a single bus

Is there a way to get all 14 drives in an MSA30 DB (dual bus) in a single array? I've basically got a dual bus I/O module but would like to treat it like a single bus - RAID 5 array with 13 drives and an online spare.

The I/O module must be swapped against a single-bus model: 287484-B21

Re: MSA30 DB as a single bus

Hi Greg,

If your RAID controller has two (or more) external connectors, you could connect one to port A, another to port B and then hopefully create a RAID-5 across all the drives....

However without knowing what controller you're using, it's difficult to say for certain.

If you must use a single bus, then the only option is to change the I/O module as Uwe said previously.

Cheers,

Rob

Re: MSA30 DB as a single bus

It is a raid card with two channels, so hooking up two cables, one to each channel does allow a single array to be created. Thanks.
