We have a 2 MSA500 linked to 2 DL580s via SA632 Adapters. The 2 MSA500 (Disk Arrays) are accessible form both DL580s (servers). OS is Win 2000 Server. Is this configuration an issue? Should each disk array only be linked to one server?
We are getting the following ntfs message on both disk arrays in the windows event logs.
Please help
Event ID: 55
The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility on the volume K:.

Solution
Mel:
If your 2 Dl580's are not in a clustered configuration, then you should not have both of them access the same Logical drives on the MSA's. Using SSP, you can restrict access to the individual units on a per host basis.
It sounds like your 2 DL's are NOT clustered so they both tried to access the same disk causing curruption on it.

Re: MSA500 and DL580
Steven,
Thanks, for your help. Our servers are not clustered and I checked our SSP configuration and it is disabled (access is not restricted).
We have production data on these disk arrays, so we need to rectify this as soon as possible. Please advise on what we can do to fix this.
To prevent further disk corruption I'm assuming we can change the SSP configuration without impacting the data on the disk arrays? Is this correct?
What about the "corrupt file structure" we got. Is our disk corrupt? Do we need to rebuild the disks? Or is the corruption limited to a specific file?
Thanks again

Re: MSA500 and DL580
The best route is to enable SSP and select only the host that needs access to the logical disk. If you only have disks for host 1 on the first MSA500, then maybe you should just disconnect host 2. Same goes for host 2 and msa500 #2.

What about the "corrupt file structure" we got. Is our disk corrupt? Do we need to rebuild the disks? Or is the corruption limited to a specific file? - Not much you can do about it now. Best would be to enable SSP, re-format the drive and restore from backup.
