MSA60 - Max LUN size

Hi,

Have been away for a while, and my old MSA skills have got rusty... things have changed since mastering the MSA1000's all those years ago now.

Have been asked to find out whether an MSA60 has the same 2Tb LUN size restriction enforced, as per the MSA1000.

Have things moved on since those days, or are these limits still inplace ?

Basically are looking to create a 10Tb LUN within Windows 2003.

Help and advice greatly appreciated, and points will be awarded.

Thanks,

Jeff

Re: MSA60 - Max LUN size

Hi Jeff,

The MSA60 is a disk shelf that is connected up to something like the SmartArray P800.

Those controllers have removed the 2TB LUN limit, and can go up to something like 8 ZettaBytes if memory serves.

Re: MSA60 - Max LUN size

From what I can see, the MSA60 is just a disk drive enclosure which you need to connect to a host bus adapter or a SmartArray controller in a single or cascaded configuration.

The Quickspecs for the E500, P600 and P800 controllers claim support for logical disks greater than 2TB, although I could not find the exact value easily.

I'd say it is MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more than 10TBytes if you get enought disks ;-)

Re: MSA60 - Max LUN size

Thanks guys !

Of course, it's dependent on the S/A..... we are going for a P800, which supports greater than 2Tb LUN's.

Thanks again,

Jeff
