Mirror existing disk into raid1 inside hpacucli
I recently installed another disk in the server and want to mirror my existing drive into a raid1 mirror from inside the hpacucli. It is important that i not lose data on the existing disk.
Please see the configuration below.
=> ctrl all show config
Smart Array P400i in Slot 0 (Embedded) (sn: PH88MP2374 )
array A (SAS, Unused Space: 0 MB)
logicaldrive 1 (33.9 GB, RAID 0, OK)
physicaldrive 1I:1:1 (port 1I:box 1:bay 1, SAS, 36 GB, OK)
unassigned
physicaldrive 1I:1:2 (port 1I:box 1:bay 2, SAS, 36 GB, OK)

Re: Mirror existing disk into raid1 inside hpacucli
You cannot split an array if it contains logical drives in RAID 0, RAID 5, or RAID ADG configurations.
There is a option in ACU-> Splitting a mirrored array-> This task splits an array that consists of one or more RAID 1+0 logical drives into two identical new arrays consisting of RAID 0 logical drives. This feature is useful when you want to replicate a configuration or when you want to build a backup before performing a risky operation.
May be others can have some idea on this.
I work for HPE

Don't get confused that the SmartArray ecosystem calls a single disk drive a "RAID-0". That's just incorrect terminology, but life isn't perfect ;-)

Re: Mirror existing disk into raid1 inside hpacucli
On top of page 7 it says:
""You must split or re-mirror arrays when the server is offline and operating in the standard configuration mode of ACU.""
