Mixing EVA3000 and VA7410 Disk Arrays to create VG

Hi Guys,

I've got a situation, currently, one of our VG's (on a VA7410 - fully maxed out) is filling up and we need to extend it. Luckily, I was able to find free space from our EVA3000 box, and presented 200GB space to the server which has the VA7410 attached to it.

Is it advisable to extend that VA7410 VG to use the 200GB-EVA disk? Would this create any issues?

Thanks!

I would try to keep separated storages on different volume groups.

The issue is that EVA3000 requires very frequent firmware updates, if to do that, you will have to put offline all you volume group.

That is, you depend of the availability of two storages to keep up one volume group. If you know the issues of this, then it won't be a problem.
