Monitoring alarms on XPxxx

Hi all,

A customer doesn't want to use the modem connection to send alarms to HP support center. Is there is another way to collect alarms and send mail or SMS to the system manager, or to collect the alarms using SIM?

Thanks.

Re: Monitoring alarms on XPxxx

Hello,
I've heard HP now supports XP monitoring via common internet connection - HP SIM + IRSA + module for XP, like on EVA's for exaple.

Re: Monitoring alarms on XPxxx

I think it really works - I saw XP module in our HP SIM, but we have only EVA's.

Does your customer use HP SIM?

Re: Monitoring alarms on XPxxx

You need IRS-Advanced Edition to run C-Track over internet,

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13265_div/13265_div.HTML

It needs a Proliant G6 or higher X86 server under contract with hp,
Software is Free.

Re: Monitoring alarms on XPxxx

Hi,

What do you mean by "contract under HP"?

Thanks.

Re: Monitoring alarms on XPxxx

I mean not only the XP but the server which hosts the IRS-Advanced must have a valid contract with HP also.

Re: Monitoring alarms on XPxxx

Basically the SVP inside the XP sent (SIM) messages to the HPSIM server and is using the transport mechanism of HPSIM+IRSA to transfer them to HP support over internet.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
