Solutionfrom the storage view you should use more small, fast disks then fewer bigger disks. Spread the IO over as many paths as possible. Since the G2 version the MSA2000 uses ULP, what uses the T10 Technical Committee ALUA extension. You should use more vdisks and volumes and balance the vdisks between the controllers. Use RAID 1+0 and set the read ahead cache size to "standard", also set the "cache optimization" to standard.
This all is written down in the "HP StorageWorks MSA2000 Best Practise Whitepaper".
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Patrick

Re: Need the best I/O performance
I think I know where you're going - the quickspecs on the MSA2000 don't mention it being supported on HP-UX - what we're running. I was in an HP training class about a year and a half ago and the technicians from HP said support for HP-UX on the MSA2000 was next in line... has that happened yet.
Will the rx6600 and the MSA2000 line play together?

Re: Need the best I/O performance
For detailed array/OS support always check HP SPOCK (Single Point of Connectivity Knowledge)
http://www.hp.com/storage/spock
I usually go this way:
Check "view by array/OS" under "SAN Compatibility" and select the required array OS versions in the matrix.
If you check HP-UX and MSA2300fc (wich is the MSA2000fc-G2) you will find it supported for HP-UX 11.21 and 11.31.
By exanding for example HP-UX 11.31 and IA you will find all details you like.
If you then click on "View the complete MSA2300fc HP-UX 11.32 IA configuration" you can even generate a PDF with the supported items.
Doing the same for the MSA2300sa you will find that its is currently only supported for HP-UX 11.31 on BL860 and 870 blades.
Cheers
Pete
