Parameter Preferred path / mode EVA8400, HSV controller off
Hi, I have to change a EVA8400 HSV450 of this cabin is about 150 vDisks. The vDisks are distributed between the two HSVs and Preferred path / mode in the 3 options:
B Path Failover / Failback
Path A Failover / Failback
No preference
I have not clear what the procedure is not whether the HSV off without changing the Preferred path / mode or change all vDisk a No preference before turning off the controller.
thank you very much

Re: Parameter Preferred path / mode EVA8400, HSV controller off
Hi!
I have some trouble understanding what you wrote.
Do you want to spread the vdisks between the controllers by changing the preferred path?
You do not have to turn off the HSV when you change the preferred path on a vdisk.
As long as your server have paths to both controllers you can do it with the server online as well.
It is a good idea to spread the vdisks between the controllers this way, if possible try to spread them not just 50/50 but also so that the ones with most load are separated.
Does this answer your question?
