Partition Offset

Hello,

I've read that I should set the sector offset alignment to 64 rather than 63 when using Windows/EVA5000. Should I do something similar for RedHat Linux? Data Direct recommends this for their S2A array. Would this also be appropriate on the EVA5000?

Thanks.

Re: Partition Offset

I haven't seen any specific notes on this and Linux, but the basic principal for adjusting the offset is that it increases performance to have the filesystem sectors aligned with the cache.

So, in my opinion, this principal should apply to any Operating System and filesystem.
