I wonder is it possible to place 6 harddrives from a DL-380 G2 to another 380 G2 and maintain the data? How to configure the integrated raid controller on the second machine? Three 36,4 GB drives are configured as a raid5 set, two 18,2 Gb drives as a mirror set and one 18,2 GB without raid. The idea is to have a complete backup server system available.

Solution
If I understand you correctly, yes you can move drives into another server.
The SmartArray controllers store the configuration on the drives themselves, so when you move them, the configuration (and data) goes with the drives.
See your documentation for details.
Good luck,
Vince

No matter where you go, there you are.

Re: Placing harddrives to another server
Thanks Vincent! I had already tried before I saw your reply and it worked just fine!
