Problem with armdiscover & armdsp

I have a problem:

bash-3.00# armdsp -i
Error logging in: TIMEOUT EXPIRED
bash-3.00# armdiscover
This could take several minutes ...

Failed to obtain remote database interface to host: localhost
bash-3.00# ping localhost
PING localhost: 64 byte packets
64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=0. time=0. ms

----localhost PING Statistics----
1 packets transmitted, 1 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip (ms) min/avg/max = 0/0/0

I've done that you suggested:

bash-3.00# /opt/sanmgr/hostagent/sbin/HA_trigger stop

ERROR: Failed to stop HostAgent normally. Try to kill the process
NOTE: killing zombie jre thread 1562
NOTE: HostAgent has stopped
bash-3.00# /opt/sanmgr/hostagent/sbin/dial_trigger stop
NOTE: Stopping diald. Please wait...
NOTE: dial stopped.

bash-3.00# mv /var/opt/sanmgr/commandview/server/data/DeviceDBFil
e /var/opt/sanmgr/commandview/server/data/DeviceDBFile.bak

bash-3.00
# /opt/sanmgr/hostagent/sbin/HA_trigger start
NOTE: Starting HostAgent
NOTE: HostAgent started
bash-3.00# /opt/sanmgr/hostagent/sbin/dial_trigger start
NOTE: Starting diald....
NOTE: Done...

But it's still doesn't work :( :(

Can you please help me?

Hi (again) Andrey,

what version you are using? Some changes in environment?

You'll find the current ver 1.09 here:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?locale=en_US&pnameOID=443575&taskId=135&prodTypeId=18964&prodSeriesId=64112тМй=en&cc=us&swEnvOID=7

T.

Hope this helps!

Re: Problem with armdiscover & armdsp

Take care, there are differnet versions on the page.

Version 1.09.01 from August 29th 2005 is the current.

I'm pretty sure, it's always part 1 of 1 ;-)

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Problem with armdiscover & armdsp

It's not the root cause of your problem, I'm sure, but it's a good idea to use a current software.

Please tell us more about your environment. How many servers are connected? Security? (SAN zones/security manager on VA)?
Direct attached or via SAN?
Any recent changes in IP config?
Are you able to see all configured LUNS on VA with ioscan?

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Problem with armdiscover & armdsp

Hi!

It's two hosts running in MC/ServiceGuard cluster. Two VAs connected to this hosts directly.

Recently I've changed IP adresses and hostnames of this two hosts.

About security: I don't know how to check. I'am novice in HP. Maybe can you send me some link to the good SDM document?

Please check

/opt/sanmgr/hostagent/config/access.dat

for the old entry.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Problem with armdiscover & armdsp

just to make sure your IP and name resolving are good, try

#hostname

and check the resolving with

#nslookup

Is the given IP address correct?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
