Can somebody tell me what are the speeds of the processors in XP128 and XP12000.

Do you know how many processors in each ACP pair. Do they 8 processors in an ACP Pair or 4 per ACP in a Pair?
If yes, does it mean that each processor controls 2 FC-AL loops?

Very good question. There are two configurations - standard (4 proc/ACP and high performance (8 proc/ACP). They cannot be mixed on a frame. Obviously, there are fewer drives per FC-AL loop on the hi-perf mode that the standard (48 vs 64, I believe)

On the XP128 you can have one or two ACPs. There are really two different ACP versions available:
- Standard Performance with 4 CPU and 8 Loops @1Gbit/s
- High Performance with 8 CPUs and 8 Loops @1Gbit/s
The bigger model of the XP128, the XP1024 is different. You can have up to 4 ACPs but only the the High Performance version above.
On the XP12000 we also only have one type
- ACP with 16 CPUs and 16 Loops @2Gbit/s
You did not ask about XP10000 which is the smaller model of the XP12000 and successor of the XP128.
Well, here we have a combined CHIP/ACP board pair.
The XP10000 ACP part has 8 CPUs and 8 Loops.

HP's reason - Their labs indicate that 400Mhz processors connecting to 2 gbps FC-AL loops was good enough.
Again, Pete was right about the XP128 and XP1024s.
Another question guys, what do you think is the best bang for your bucks? RAID1(2D+2D) or RAID5(7+1) on a Xp12000?
I want to keep this discussion alive, this way this thread will have most of the answers for XP12000

The two ACP cards in the XP12000 do have 8 processors each, so an ACP has 16 processors total!
You are probably thinking of the CHIP cards (providing FC host connectivity) which indeed do have one processor per 2 FC ports.
So a 16 port CHIP has 8 processors (4 per board) and a 32 port CHIP has 16 processors (8 per board).

Yes, you are correct, but that is the Hitachi specification. At the present time, HP XP12000 only has the 4MP ACP ( We do have the 8MP ACP part number but not availabe to order) . From our lab testing at the present code level, we see no significant performance improvement using the 8MP ACP, so at the present time the we do not use them in out xp12000.

We removed an ACP board of an XP12000 and checked it. It definitely has 4 piggy boards with 2 processors each, so 8 processors per ACP board.
