The web based ACU is not giving me a RAID1+0 option to migrate my RAID0 setup to RAID1+0.
My setup:
dl385 g1
72gig HP SAS
Smart Array p600 Controller
ACU 7.73.1.0
SLES10
My steps so far have been:
1. Add additional 72Gb drive to machine
2. Add unused drive to array.
3. Extend existing logical drive with new array unused space
4. Try and migrate raid 0 on logical drive to raid 1+0 - no raid 1+0 option
5. Re-stripe logical drive from 256kb to 64kb.
6. Try and migrate raid 0 on logical drive to raid 1+0 - no raid 1+0 option
This should be pretty straight forward per the steps I took above? Or did I mess it up?
So, I am stuck in a RAID 0 config with 140Gb logical drive, spread over 2 72Gb physical drives. Interestingly, if I use the file browser in the SUSE desktop, it reports I have only 72gb space on the root drive (I though that should now report 140gb??)
If I have mucked it up, what steps do I need to take to get me to RAID1+0 ??
Thanks,
Simon.

Re: Proliant ACU - no RAID 0 to RAID 1+0 migrate option
. 1 logical drive
. 1 physical drive
. RAID 0
I added another physical drive to leave:
. 1 logical drive
. 2 physical drives
. RAID 0
So, I would have to say yes? There are 2 (even) physical drives - is that what you mean?
I have just read in another forum entry that if RAID0 spans 2 drives, you can't just migrate it to RAID1+0, because there is now no space (ie second drive is now accounted for). Is that the case - even though in my circumstance, the second drive is still empty?

Are you able to add 2 more drives for a total of 4.

Re: Proliant ACU - no RAID 0 to RAID 1+0 migrate option
nup - I've only got 2 drives! In any case, my system was pretty clean, so I've re-installed and have now got the RAID correctly setup from the get go (a pain, but it kept me moving).
I did entertain the idea of trying to reduce the volume on the logical drive back down to one physical disc - but - I wasn't confident with that, so went brute force with the re-install option.
Cheers & thanks,
Simon.
