Question about EVA4400 HSV300-S connect HPUX 11.11

Hello, Friends

I have checked the spock website: EVA4400 HP-UX 11.11:http://spock.corp.hp.com/Content/ConfigurationSetDetailView.aspx?Id=6160&FromCache=1, and there is note about HBA connectivity:
HBA note
Until further notice, direct connect is not supported.

So I don't think the hpux 11.11 server can connect the HSV300-S EVA4400 by directly, But somebody think the embedded 8GB switch (within HSV300-S controller) is also a switch, so it should be a fabric switch connection between the server and the HSV300-S.

How about your opinion? As I understand, the EVA4400(HSV300 or HSV300-S) just can support directly connected with Linux, Windows and 11.31 according to release notes of firmware.

The HSV300-S contains an itegrated Brocade 5410 SAN Switch, running Fabric OS v6.1.0_8e. Each EVA controller is connected to one port on each switch, and 10 ports are available externally.

You're not connecting directly to the controllers in this case, you're connecting to a Brocade SAN switch like any other.

Thanks, So is there wrong description on SPOCK website? Because I don't think there is a concept about direct connection between HSV300-S and HBA.I just confused by the HBA note:Until further notice, direct connect is not supported.

Hello,

to my knowledge, direct connect is generally not supported by EVAs with no regard to the operating system type.

In terms of the HSV300-S controller, the internal connections of the embedded FC switches represent a regular SAN, as stated above. There is no difference between this configuration and a regular fabric consisting of standalone switches. (from conceptual point of view)

According to release notes, the direct connection between EVA4400 and servers can be supported to OS: Windows,Linux(limited to Emulex HBA), 11.31(don't support boot from EVA).

I just confused with the eva4400 with HSV300-S controller.
