Question-replacing failed disk with lower capacity in VA7100
I have one VA7100 with 10 nos of 18 GB disks and 3 nos of 72 GB disks and connected to hpux under HA cluster.
Now one of the 72 GB HDD is failed and from SDM it was found that redundancy level = 43 GB where as witout HDD failure redundancy level was 135 GB. Presently I couldn't procure 72 GB HDD immediately and replace it but I have 36 GB HDD, so my question is can I replace 36 GB HDD with failed 72 GB HDD and will the redundancy can be achieved in both space & spindle level.

Re: Question-replacing failed disk with lower capacity in VA7100
I never tried, but I feel it won't work.
Is Array status in warning or Ready?
The LUNS are in AuroRAID or RAID1+1?

Re: Question-replacing failed disk with lower capacity in VA7100
Thanks for info.
Array status is in warning.
The LUNS are in AuroRAID.
That means it is not advisable to insert lower capacity HDD.

Re: Question-replacing failed disk with lower capacity in VA7100
Please find attached Disk replacement guide. Its clearly mentioned that the replaced disk should be same or higher size.
