RAID 5 to RAID 0

RAID 5 to RAID 0

Due to performance problems we want to move from RAID 5 to RAID 0/1. Is there a "neat" way to do this? or do we have to remove the data (lun's) and restore?
Running HP-UX 11.0 on a 9000/879/K260 the array is a model 20.

Re: RAID 5 to RAID 0

Hello,

Unfortunately, you have to backup your data, remove your current LUNs, recreate your LUNs to RAID 0/1 and restore.

Re: RAID 5 to RAID 0

If you had a spare disk array (or borrow one), you could mirror the disks, break the mirror (i.e. remove the model 20 disks), reconfigure the array, add the newly configured disks back to the mirror, break the mirror by removing the spare array disks.

It is a lot quicker than backing up to tape and restoring from tape.
