RAID Array 3000 Problem

We are using multiple RAID Array 3000â s under Tru64 V5.1A on AlphaServers. Yesterday we detected â errorsâ on a few of the RAID disks via the SysMan Station utility and we have also seen some related messages in the event logger (see attachment). We are seeing these â errorsâ on different servers via SysMan Station but we are not seeing associated event logger events on all the same servers. We have contacted HP support but they have been unable to provide us with a resolution. They think there may be something wrong with some of the RAID disks but they are still researching.

We havenâ t seen any impact to our production application as of yet, that happen to access these disk arrays via Sybase.

If anyone can provide some insight it would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,
Kevin

Re: RAID Array 3000 Problem

Well we heard back from HP after it got bumped up, or around, to 4th level support and they told us that it's apparently a false negative from the Sysman station software in that it's nothing to really worry about so long as the RAID swcc utility is not flagging the drives as bad. An upgrade to Tru64 V5.1.B may provide a fix but that is not going to happen here.

FWIW, they sent us the attached document but we would have to dismount our RAID volumes to test so we are going to live with the SysMan station inconsistencies for the time being.
