Re: RAID Controller, SCSI Drive Cage and OS Compatability

The 431 driver for Windows 2003 is the same one I linked above:

You should make sure the bios on the 431 controller is 1.24:

Enjoy!

Re: RAID Controller, SCSI Drive Cage and OS Compatability

yes, as you have now realised it is the simplex cage.

Although the QuickSpecs for the 431 don't mention support for this cage, it is the only simplex Ultra2/Ultra3 cage listed in the 5500 QuickSpecs.

I quess like the Server 2003 Compatability list they just neglected to mention somethings.

The only downside to the 431 (apart form having to buy it) is the lack of battery backup. However I'm placing very little load on my UPS so probably don't need to worry overly about that as I'll have quite a lot of time to resolve the issue or shutdown.

If I can still get the 431 cheap enough I'll probably give it a go but to be honest I'm barely scratching the surface of the 5500's capabilities.

Thanks for the input and links.
