Raid 0 to 1

Hi
I have a client who has a dl380 and 4 hdd in raid 0 with one of hotspare. hours would put it in and configure a raid 1 +0 on all 4 hdd.
You can do this without losing everything installed?
thanks

Re: Raid 0 to 1

1) I don't quite understand the logic of RAID 0 + Hotspare

2) If they have 4 disks in RAID 0, you need 8 disks to convert that directly to RAID 1.

Re: Raid 0 to 1

hi,

have you made your client aware that if they lose a disk in their raid-0 array the hot spare will not save against data loss as vcespon has already alluded to.
is it 3 disks in the raid-0 + 1 spare or 4 disks in the raid-0 + 1 spare ?

fwiw

Re: Raid 0 to 1

in fact there is no logic in letting a hot spare hdd in a raid 0.
I will ask if the customer wishes to buy another 4 or hdd to reinstall everything (after a backup) and configure the hdd in raid 1 +0 or raid 5 with hot spare.

thanks to both
