Raid 4SI PCI 4port Ultra2 SCSI controller (part # A5856A)
I am looking for some information on how to setup/configure the 4si pci 4port ultra2 scsi raid controller in my 2405 and 5405. I am looking for the best possible way. Are there any documents on this and if so where?

Re: Raid 4SI PCI 4port Ultra2 SCSI controller (part # A5856A)
Teresa,
read or download
http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/J6173-90007/J6173-90007.html
plus
http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/J6173-90008/J6173-90008.html
Basically if you are running HP-UX 11i you should have all the sowftware and drivers you need. So you are ready to plug in the card, attach JBODs and setup LUNs.
For 11.0 you need to install software and drivers from an Application CD. In such a case I'd also recommend installing a recent Support Plus Bundle.
What type of LUNs you should setup would be dependant on what your requirements are in terms of safety, performance, lun space.
Typically you would setup mirroring with stripe size of 64K.
Regards,
Bernhard

Re: Raid 4SI PCI 4port Ultra2 SCSI controller (part # A5856A)
Could you expound on the 64K stripe size ? Our Oracle guys told us the stripe on the raid 0+1 disks should be set to the same size as the oracle cluster, which in our case i think is 2 or 4K.
Thank you,
Alberto
