Hi,
I have attach a MSA30onto a rp3410 and i wish to configure it to raid 5 with 4 x 72GB harddisk. An additional smart array card was install onto the rp3410. Can you please advice with steps how to configure the MSA30. Thanks in advance

I think the card is A6402 initially it was certified in a NT box but now this card can be use in a HP-Unix box as well. Please advice

you shoud download correct HP-UX driver for HP-UX 11i v1 (HP-UX 11.11)

The driver shoud have revision B.11.11.03.

will be helpful to install the driver and to configure RAID card. After installation of the driver you can also read man page for saconfig utility

man saconfig

I'm not sure if proliant's version of SA6402 card (P/N: 273915-B21) has the same firmware as HP-UX version (P/N: A9890A). Under HP-UX only A9890A card is supported.

Hi guys,
thanks for the help and info, I manage to configure the msa30 to my requirement . Appreicate it. Just one more question, assuming I have 6 x 72GB configure to raid 1+0, how many disk can be afford to fail at one time . Let say I want to configure a spare, is it that I have to add two more 72GB disk so that I can do that???

Hi,

for RAID 1+0
Several disks in the array can fail without incurring data loss, as long as no two failed disks belong to the same mirrored pair.

No loss of data as long as none of failed disks are mirrored to another failed disk (up to half of the physical disks in the array can fail)
