Removal of drive from RAID5 array

Hi,
Is is possible to remove a physical drive from a RAID5 array?
I have a Netserver E800 with a Netraid 1Si, firmware F.02.05 configured with 5 x 9Gb drives in a RAID5 array. I wish to remove 1 of the 5 drives if possible. Is there any way to do this short of having to completely rebuild the system? It is an NT4 BDC and our email server so a rebuild is not an option.
Thanks,
Mark.

Re: Removal of drive from RAID5 array

hi,
Unfortunately no, you cannot migrate form a raid 5 with 5 disk to a raid five with 4 disks, but you can remove a disk from the raid as a temporary solution, you will run in degraded mode and without redoundancy (not suggested)
The only way is to create a new shorter raid and relaod data.
