Removing MSA20 from MSA1500

Hey there,

we're having issues with our 2 msa20 that are connected to a msa1500. Both show one battery as failed, and thus the cache is disabled. One of those msa20 is unconfigured but running firmware 2.02, the other fully configured and running firmware 2.08. I read in the manuals that it is necessary to shut down the msa20 and the msa1500 as well in order to check or change the battery. This is sort of impossible at the moment, since a live system is connected to the msa1500. Do I really have to shut down the msa1500? It's a bit of a stubborn question, but I can't really see any reason for it. Thanks in advance!
